What We Do | Branches

EWB-Ireland Branches allow members to meet and participate in events at a local level. Branches can run their own events and activities throughout the year, allowing members get involved with EWB-Ireland at a local level.

Branches can be run as part of a university society or else a regional group of professionals.

Below is an overview of some of the activities that a branch can get involved in.

Training

Locally held talks & workshops covering a wide range of development topics, aimed at increasing awareness of international development issues and developing your technical skills & knowledge for working in a developing country.

Branch Projects

Branch projects can be run throughout the year within the branch. Branch projects can be on any development based topic e.g. developing a form of appropriate technology. There may be a possibility to create connections with academia/industry/NGOs (for use in a developing country for example) or the project can be used as a training exercise for the participants to develop their technical skills.

Outreach

A branch-run schools outreach programme is a great way of getting involved in your local community by teaching children about development and the surrounding issues through fun and interesting workshops.

Social

The social side of branches should not be overlooked! Branches can be a great way of meeting like-minded people (and have a bit of craic!).

Getting Involved

If you know people in your area or university who would be interested in learning about sustainable development, why not become involved in an EWB branch!

EWB-Ireland can assist you in setting up a branch and provide you with the necessary resources. A Belfast branch is already under way, and we are currently working towards setting up branches in Dublin, Cork and Galway.

If you wish to be involved let us know by sending an email to getinvolved@ewb-ireland.org or contact our branch co-ordinators.
